How does your garden grow...

Quite well this year! We are just starting to harvest our garden vegies. I started a little later this year- as last year I was so excited to be able to have my own garden finally, I planted starter seedlings indoors in February- way too early! This year, a little too late maybe... I wasn't feeling real well around planting time and put it off, but we are starting to reap! This is kind of a funny photo of Tony, not his most handsome expression, but we're supposed to focused on his bowl of goodies. It is filled with cherry, yellow, and some smaller red tomatoes, a couple of green peppers, some yellow peppers (which have a mild bite - barely noticeable really) and then, he's obviously holding a small sampling of luscious carrots! So yummy!

Now, doesn't that look good! And hubby is much cuter in this photo too! LOL. Okay, joking aside, if you look closely you can see a few ears of corn- almost ready for harvesting. I didn't plant very much corn this year, as last year, we didn't get a single ear. This year, fewer plants, but much happier corn! Don't know if its the change in location (switched the planting lay-out around this year) or just exactly what the difference is, but, it looks like we'll get a respectable harvest of corn soon - will definitely plant more again next year!

Massive amount of lettuce. And Hubby washes it for me! We had a huge salad tonight. Tony does the lettuce and I do the rest of the vegies...a perfect combo! I overheard the kids (and friends) talking about how they love salad (definitely from my side of the family!) and Luke noted how cool it is to just be able to go cut it from your own garden and have it instantly available. Luke also thinks fresh carrots are the vegie with the most obvious taste advantage when fresh. I think I'd vote for tomatoes, but, a good carrot rates right up there!

My ripening gold nugget tomatoes, the red cherry tomatoes and larger reds are on the other side of this bed.
Good eatin' -
